Wedding cake topper – Rich and Amy
This spring I was asked to create a cake topper of the bride and groom for my friends Rich and Amy – it was a challenge for me, having only previously sculpted animals, but it’s always exciting to try something new.
It was great to be part of their big day, in such a big way! I think all three of them came out pretty cute. See below for a few in progress detail shots, as well as the glamorous in situ cake photos.
The cake topper was constructed from super sculpey clay around a foil and wire armature, hand painted in acrylic paint and then glazed.
The below photos are of the cake topper pre-glaze – you can see an unpainted Harley and my acrylic board working surface that I use for almost everything in the background!
